* this only applies to databases where stats for a single club are being recorded *
I am in two minds about what should happen when you click on an opposition player on a match report so I am seeking some feedback on what you would like to see happen.
If you run as a single club, please vote on your preferred option below:
What should happen when clicking on an opposition player in a match report? (for single clubs)
Show their player profile, unfiltered by any clubs
Show their player profile, filtered by their team's club
Show their player profile, filtered by my club
Redirect to my club's home page (no viewing of opp players)
Some extra things to note:
If we don't filter by any clubs then it will show stats from all matches they have played in (all matches you have recorded in your database)
If we filter by the team's club from the match then it will show stats from matches that they have played in that club only, and will exclude stats from matches played while at other clubs (note that this is not filtering by "team" )
If you filter by your club then it will only show stats from matches where they may have played for your club at some point (for most opposition players it will show 0 matches played/blank stats)
This is only the "default" filter for when the player profile page first loads - anyone can still hit the filter button and adjust the filters to their liking
Be sure to post up if you have any additional points to make.
Thanks everyone for your input. Here is what I have done today for players on match reports/scorecards:
I removed the division filters from all of the player links so that the player profile pages won't be limited to the division of the match when someone first clicks a player
If you are in single club mode then:
You can now turn off opposition player links via the Setup/Stats Site Config if you desire
Players links on the match reports will take you to their player profile page with no club filter - meaning you will see stats for every match in the database by default (you can then use the filter at the top to set filters as you see fit)

I voted for the first option - I would click on a player if I see an interesting name or score and would like to see their entire record against us.
(Similarly - ish, I would prefer also to click on my players and not have them filtered by the team I click through from, just go straight through to their entire record for my club)
Voted for option 4, although in my case (perhaps unusual) I would prefer opposition players to be not clickable at all rather than show a blank profile etc - of course if that isn't possible, not really a problem
I voted for option 1 as I like to see all of the opponents stats against us regardless of which clubs they've played for in the past. I can always look at the 'Team' tab of the profile page if I want to see the specifics for each club and of course clicking on the 'Matches' link in the players home page gives the match by match breakdown, so you can see the specific team they have played for in there as well.
