What happened to the sorting of player names feature when selecting a team?
I found this feature very handy but now it seems to have disappeared, you can still do it manually but it just takes time. When you have 2 players in a team like James Baker and Justin Baker it makes it much easier selecting them when they are in alphabetical order when entering the match deatils.
Out of interest, why wouldn't you have the team pre-set to be in the typical batting order which generally doesn't change much week to week?
Just ask @Paul Reynolds
in all the matches ive entered over the years I’ve rarely seen the same batting order used from one week to the next !
we don’t play professional cricket so there is usually a min of 3-4 changes to a team each week so therefore the batting order gets redone every single match.
there might be the openers and first drop the same from week to week but after that it’s a complete reorder of the batting lineup each week.
Very much the same Joel, with four players in Sheffield Shield a five in BBL and nine grade teams to contend with, promotion and demotion both as rep players are in/out and on form, having an alphabetical list is far easier as most of my sides have far more than the 11 to cover these events.
Our covid delayed season is only getting going this weekend, so I'll report back from the 180 odd teams who input scorecards. As Mark alluded to, now that scorecards are auto-populated from the team lists it makes little sense to have them in alphabetical order - no teams bats its players in alphabetical order. But against that, as everyone has said above, a settled batting order is unheard of in most club cricket teams, so I'm not quite sure that is the ideal solution either. However at least by ordering the team with the core players at the top, you are more likely to have the right players in the auto populated scorecard
Thanks @Paul Reynolds
@Joel Norman , @Pat Culpan Aren't you guys importing from MyCricket anyway? I didn't think you would be entering matches manually.
Hi Mark, my main use which is regular is when catches are not entered as part of the main scoreboard in MyCricket and only in the grid below. The import function does not recognise these catches//stumpings/run outs so I have to enter them manually and to do so the player must be selected in the team In Cricketstatz.
I am still entering old matches from the 80’s and 90’s that are not in MyCricket so they need to be entered manually. All the current games imported from MyCricket are fine and it doesn’t really matter.
the need for sorting is not for auto populating the batting scorecard but rather when selecting names for catches and bowlers, when the names are not in alpabetical order it takes a lot longer to select a name with only one or two key strokes if they are similar spelling but not in any particular order.
ive been entering in some old games again today but had to manually sort the team alphabetically to make it quicker and easier to enter.
Thanks for your input. The SORT button is back.
